Introducing Dawn Academy

Dawn Academy is a new independent Islamic secondary school opening in Wolverhampton for boys and girls aged 11-16.

Our school combines a structured academic curriculum with dedicated Qur'anic education, including Tajweed and Hifz pathways, within a safe, disciplined and nurturing environment.

With small class sizes and experienced teachers, pupils are supported to achieve strong GCSE outcomes with developing confidence, character and a deep connection to their faith.

Dawn Academy is planned to open in September 2026. The school will welcome students entering Years 7 to 11, with places offered subject to the admissions process and availability.

Yes. Dawn Academy comprises two separate schools:

Dawn Academy Boys and Dawn Academy Girls.

Each school will operate independently with dedicated facilities and leadership, allowing boys and girls to learn in a focused and supportive environment while maintaining the same high standards of academic education and Islamic development.

Yes. Dawn Academy will operate as an independent Islamic secondary school registered with the Department for Education (DfE) for pupils aged 11-16.

The school will comply with all relevant regulatory standards for independent schools, including safeguarding, curriculum, and student welfare requirements.

The school will deliver a full academic curriculum aligned with the National Curriculum, preparing pupils to achieve up to 10 GCSE qualifications, including GCSE Arabic.

Alongside their academic studies, students will take part in daily Qur’anic education. The morning session will focus on Qur’an learning, including recitation with Tajweed and structured memorisation pathways for those pursuing Hifz.

This balanced approach enables pupils to develop strong academic foundations while building a meaningful connection with the Qur’an and their Islamic identity.

No. Hifz is not compulsory.

Students will be assessed and guided into the most suitable Qur’an pathway for them. This may include:

Qur’an recitation with Tajweed
Structured memorisation pathways for students who wish to pursue Hifz

Our aim is to support every pupil in developing a strong relationship with the Qur’an at an appropriate pace for them.

No. Dawn Academy is independent and not affiliated with any specific masjid or organisation.

Our aim is to provide an inclusive Islamic environment that welcomes families from all backgrounds, regardless of which mosque they attend or their school of thought.

The school’s focus is on teaching the Qur’an, nurturing good character (Adhaab and Akhlaq), and instilling a love of Islam in every pupil.

Class sizes will be capped at 20 students per year group.

This small cohort model allows teachers to provide individual attention, strong pastoral support, and personalised academic guidance, helping every pupil reach their potential.
